Kids

The Kids Corner is a place to find kid approved Healthy Foods, Feel Good Toxic Free Products and well… Fun Ideas! This kids’ page is important to me. As a mother of two, I appreciate the struggle, the negotiation and the amount of work it takes to keep our children well-nourished. Sometimes we only have 30 minutes from when you walk in the door after school until you have to be at the first extracurricular activity. Convenience foods look appealing because it feels like there is no time or energy to start cooking.

After years of working full-time and raising two very active kids, I have learned the importance of my food prep day. I create quick five-ingredient meals, make ahead power balls and grab-and-go protein snacks. They took some trial and error and, of course, they had to pass my hardest critics – my kids! But we nailed it. Here I offer you kid-approved snacks, healthy lunchbox solutions your kids can be involved in making, tasty holistic nutrition-approved treats and so much more fun kid food ideas. My passion is to share these with other moms/dads and hope that your kids love them too and in turn, make your life a little easier with some extra self-care time for yourself!

I have tried and tested many toxic free products for kids, which I will share here, along with some DIY recipes I have created myself, like my kid’s homemade cough drops and DIY Kids Safe Bug Spray. And let’s not forget the importance of Fun! I have a chemical free DIY moon sand and playdough recipes you can make with your kids and feel good about. Lots of great school party snacks and gift ideas that fit into your health and wellness mindset. I even have my favorite natural food based food coloring icing recipes for their Birthday cakes (cause we all need to enjoy cake still!). As I make them, I will post them to share with all of you 🙂

During my own transformation to health and wellness, my children were taken along this journey with me, and I have seen the difference it can make. The result was my daughter, who was plagued with allergic symptoms, had frequent illnesses and experienced anxiety had all these lessen over time. My son who had a difficult time focusing and keeping attention in school and complained of leg pains also no longer has these issues. Educating our kids while they are young can help them develop positive relationships with food, promote healthy brain and body development, and reduce the incidence of disease in the future. Together we can foster kids who rejoice in a healthy and happy body!

Strawberry Basil Nice Cream

I really enjoyed frozen desserts, its very satisfying, and curbs the cravings for something sweet. Using frozen fruit, herbs, and a little natural sweetener creates the perfect frozen treat in your blender in minutes without the heavy fats, and hard to digest casein proteins that can often accompany a dairy dessert.

BENEFITS OF YOGA: BEYOND THE MAT (FOR KIDS & ADULTS)

I had the absolute pleasure to sit down with Victoria Vilaivan, who owns and operates Seek Yoga in Sherwood Park, Alberta to learn more about the work she does with children and to gain a deeper understanding of the health benefits of yoga. Homemade Organic Hot Chocolate:

Indulging in a cup of rich, decadent Hot Chocolate is my favorite drink over the holiday season. Now I am not speaking about hot cocoa, when I say hot chocolate, that is exactly what I mean. The difference simply is hot cocoa is what many of us think of when we say Hot Chocolate. You open a package of powdered cocoa or make your own powdered mixture and stir that into hot milk. Growing up this is what I thought Hot Chocolate was too. Then, I had real Hot Chocolate at a little restaurant in New York and my mind was blown. Real Chocolate!
