You know when you walk in the door at the end of your day and you just want something? Even if you ate well all day, you walk in the door, go to the fridge and stand there staring. This is when my eating is at its worst. It’s random – like a piece of cheese and some old chocolate chips I found in the baking box. I used to get frustrated with myself that I would eat beautiful, healthy food all day but then consume a ton of unplanned food within 5 minutes after walking in the door.

Listening to my body, I realized that this is the time of day I most struggle with. I knew I needed to create something that would give me both a healthy fat and a chocolaty treat. This Smoothie Bowl does the trick! It can be made in under 5 minutes, it delivers me the burst of energy I need to tackle my evening, and I can prep it ahead of time and store in bags so that its ready when I need it.

Try this smoothie bowl for breakfast, as your late afternoon pick-me-up like I do, or for those night-time sweet cravings.

  • 1 tbsp hemp hearts
  • 1/2 tsp chia seeds
  • 1 tsp peanut butter warmed to drizzle on top

  • Add more ice 1/4 cup at a time and blend until you have reached your desired consistency

Notes

If you plan ahead and freeze your banana's this thickens the smoothie without having to use ice/ less ice based on your thickness preference.
