Scrolling through my recipes on the blog or watching my daily Instagram cooking stories, you can quickly see that Hemp Seeds are one of my favorite toppings to almost everything. What I love about this tiny little, nutty flavored superfood is it’s a nutritional powerhouse and you can use it in almost everything.
Hemp Seeds are an excellent source of essential fatty acids and contain all 9 essential amino acids, which make hemp a complete protein. My nutritional weak point has always been ensuring I get enough protein into my daily diet, grabbing a scoop of hemp hearts and tossing them into my smoothie, onto my morning toast, or into my salad makes adding healthy protein a breeze. 65% of hemp’s total protein comes from a protein called edestin, which is easily absorbed by the body while being hypoallergenic (meaning it has a low allergy potential).
Now many people I work with have a difficult time digesting cow’s milk and are often looking for alternatives for a variety of health reasons. There are so many nut milk varieties now available on the market and you can make your own at home, however, most require you to strain them by using a nut bag for example to achieve that smooth consistency we are used to in milk. What is perfect about the hemp “milk” alternative is that there is no straining requiring, literally you blend you water, hemp seeds, and additional flavoring as you choose and that is it! Hemp Milk in minutes at home in your blender. If you give this recipe a try, I would love to hear how you liked it? Leave me a comment below.

3-Ingredient Homemade Vanilla Hemp Milk
Ingredients
- 1 cup hemp seeds
- 3 cups filtered water
- 1 tsp vanilla (powder or vanilla bean flesh) you can use liquid vanilla as well but the bean/powder has a more intense flavour
Instructions
- Place water and hemp seeds into the blender.
- Cut the vanilla bean in half, scrap out the inside with a butter knife and add to the blender. If you are using vanilla powder or liquid instead just add that to the blender.
- Blend everything at a high speed for about 2 minutes until its blended and frothy. Yup, that's it!
